I’m looking forward to today.
I think it’s good for me to say that, because a part of me would rather say, “I’m dreading today.” Today is the last day to finalize any details and wrap up any lose ends before the big event tomorrow, and tonight is the dress rehearsal for the Family Experience live show. After today, I pretty much need to stop tweaking, improving, and making last minute adjustments. After today, I basically just need to leave everything be and watch the event unfold as it will.
This is the sixth time over the past 3 years that I have run an event like this, and so I am getting pretty used to the routine. Each time it gets a little bit easier, and I manage to delegate a few more things so that my brain is not as fried by the end of it. But that being said, it is still really stressful! There is still this small fear in the back of my mind that something will go wrong and all of the hard work that has been going into the event for months will be all for not. That’s where the dread comes in.
But I’m not going to let that dread define my day today. Instead, I’m choosing to look forward to this day. I’m choosing to go into with anticipation and excitement. I’m choosing to approach today with an expectation that things will go smoothly, and that when curveballs come (because like I talked about in Monday’s post, they always do), I will be able to navigate them with grace and dexterity.
I’m looking forward to today because today is a new day. Yesterday had its stresses, and my anxiety did get away on me a little bit in the afternoon. But today is a fresh chance to try again. I slept well last night and I feel great this morning. I am in a healthy mental space, and I would like to keep it that way! So I’m focusing on the positive.
I’m looking forward to today!
And here’s a little something for you to look forward to! For all of you out there who would like to have a tiny sneak peak at what I’ve been busy working on, here are a few pictures we snapped on Monday evening at our tech rehearsal for the live show. I’ll be sure to post a few more pictures after the actual event!
